Barcelona to Ipoh – 14 Jan 2026 & 15 Jan 2026

Our last morning in Barcelona began at Plaza España, the city’s historic square built for the 1929 International Exhibition. With its grand Venetian towers and fountains, it’s more than just a transit point—it’s a snapshot of Barcelona’s architectural pride. We wandered the area, doing some last-minute shopping, joking with each other about keeping an eye on our belongings. After all, no one wants to be filing police reports on the final day!
Transport Tip: Saving on Airport Buses
From Plaza España, we needed to reach Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). Instead of the expensive Aerobus, we used a T-10 multi-trip ticket on the normal bus lines. The T-10 ticket allows 10 journeys within the city, including transfers under 75 minutes. However, since one of our buses was delayed, we had to pay for the last leg separately—but overall, it’s a cost-effective way to reach the airport. Always leave extra time for potential delays when using transfers.
Airport Check-In: Smooth Sailing
Arriving at the airport with plenty of time gave us a relaxed start. Barcelona-El Prat Airport is large but efficiently designed; check-in and security were smooth, and there was time to walk around the terminals. By this point, sightseeing was done, so we simply took in the architecture, grabbed a coffee, and watched travelers bustle by. The calm before departure is always a little bittersweet.
Flight to Doha: Short Transit, Sweet Treats
Our flight to Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) was uneventful, and the short transit offered a perfect window for a quick shopping stop. I picked up some local dates and chocolates, souvenirs that reflect Qatar’s renowned culinary heritage. Hamad International is a modern marvel, blending Middle Eastern design with efficiency—perfect for a smooth transfer.

Doha to Kuala Lumpur: Full Flight, Slow Baggage
The second leg of our journey, Doha to KL, was full. Upon arrival, baggage claim moved slowly. Since I didn’t have a working phone, I borrowed my friend’s to notify my family of our arrival. These small logistical hiccups are reminders that travel often requires flexibility.
Last Leg: KL to Ipoh
After parting ways with my friend, I took the bus back to Ipoh, my hometown in Malaysia. During the ride, I read a book and reflected on the trip—the markets, the architecture, the food, and the tiny transport hacks that made the journey smoother. I arrived home on time, completing a journey spanning continents but connected by careful planning, a sense of curiosity, and a few practical tricks.
